The Norwegian Embassy in Berlin marks its 25th anniversary
The Nordic Embassy Complex in Berlin celebrates its jubilee on Monday, October 21st, and Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway will be present at the commemoration, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide.
Also coming to the celebration are King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark, as well as Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden.
The Nordic embassy complex opened in 1999, as a result of Berlin becoming the new capital after German reunification. Berlin is the only place in the world where all five Nordic countries' embassies are co-located.
The Norwegian Embassy is one of the very early Snøhetta projects. The southern wall of the Norwegian embassy is composed of a single, monumental slice of grey Norwegian granite, over 14 meters tall and weighing approximately 120 tons.
Snøhetta's Director of Acquisition and Business Jette Hopp will give a speech at the opening.
